Symptoms

In Steam Gaming Mode, the game loads very slowly and runs at an extremely low (uplayable) framerate even though it's not demanding at all. Switching to Desktop mode on the Steam Deck (or using the MESA_LOADER_DRIVER_OVERRIDE=zink launch option) actually makes the game load much faster and it even runs at decent framerate, but after playing for about 30 seconds, the framerate starts dropping significantly until it is unplayable again. The same framerate drop happens when opening Settings in the main menu.

The game is by the same developer as HROT ( #5654 ), which has some similar performance issues.

Reproduction

1. Launch the game.
2. Start a new game or enter Settings.
3. The framerate should start dropping within a minute or so.
