Hey,
I used to play Age of Wonders 4, on old laptop with GeForce960M, on Fedora 34.
Game was only running properly on Proton 8.0-4,
there was way to run it on Proton Experimental with option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% but looks terrible and very dark when run on OpenGL. No options need for Proton 8.0.

After Steam updated to use 8.0-5 I started to have problem with launching game, paradox launcher didn't show up when game run from Steam library (there was fix for it in 8.0-4 so seems to be some regression). However, as I had MS libraries and .net framework downloaded from time it worked I found workaround by pointing to paradox launcher exe as non-steam game directly instead running game from Steam library, and it worked.

Today I reinstalled steam and games, and this time I do not have MS libraries, and on 8.0-5 I can't download them. Steam/Game freeze on launching phase, "running install script" not changing into installing .net framework message i.e. "running install script (Installing MS .net framework)"

Kindly please look on this. Best regards

PS. Is there option to get 8.0-4 back on Steam compatibility list?

Hm... I changed json files of /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d for intel and lvp to .back files to leave only nvidia,
also changed paradox launcher exe file into symlink to AOW exe,
And started see steam saying game running, but nothing showed up, no game on screen.
Removed changes back and still not getting previous behavior... XD strange, restart steam not helps.
Well following advises from internet without understanding how things work :D anyway, still stuck with issue.

Hello @devopscraft, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/6741#issuecomment-4031469698.
