Feature Request

I confirm:

  • [X] that I haven't found another request for this feature.
  • [X] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available that
    contain this feature already.

Description

Sound synth support, MIDI files in particular.

Justification

Some games (like Last Scenario and Exit Fate - external to steam) use MIDI files. Not sure whether it should be wine or steam taking care of that detail. I suspect it should be wine but trying here 1st in case I'm wrong since I expect valve has more leeway for looking at random requests like this than wine.

System Information

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 480
  • Driver/LLVM version: amdgpu (I think)
  • Kernel version: 6.18 LTS (Manjaro XFCE)
  • Proton version: proton-ge-custom-bin 1:GE_Proton10_32-1 and proton-experimental

Reproduction

  1. Launch Last Scenario (it's free btw)
  2. Open an existing save or start a new game (latta is slower)
  3. Go to world map once you have control of your character
  4. You should be hearing music start playing within the 1st second or two, something along the lines of de DE deee, I forget the rest

Notes

I have vmpk, fluidsynth and timidity++ all installed, confirmed with vmpk that fluidsynth at least is responding correctly (didn't give me sound from it's piano keys when I configured it wrong).
Does mention an SDL3 error but not sure why they would have anything to do with it, it's a game maker built game.

Hey, seeing as you just came from my tracker and opened this per my advice, I'd also suggest changing the proton version listed here, as you verified it does not work on proton-experimental
