Symptoms

The intro FMV does not play correctly. Instead of the actual video, the game displays a color test pattern screen with a static box in the lower-right corner. Audio does not play during this intro sequence.

Once gameplay begins, subsequent FMV cutscenes do play, but they are extremely low quality compared to how they should appear. This behavior is consistent across all tested Proton versions.

Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster (same engine family) plays all FMVs correctly on the same system and Proton versions.

Reproduction

1. Launch Resident Evil HD Remaster with any Proton version (Proton Experimental, Proton 9.0, Proton 8.0, Proton GE).
2. Start a new game.
3. The intro FMV shows a color test pattern with a static box in the lower-right corner instead of the actual video.
4. After entering gameplay, trigger any FMV cutscene.
5. FMVs play, but at extremely low quality.
