Hello @jaceee-gh, get your fix(es) reviewed and merged upstream. After that, add a note to the affected game's compatibility report and a Proton dev can consider backporting the upstream contribution to Proton. Since it doesn't looks like Fields of Mistria doesn't already have a compatibility report, we'll track feedback for that game here.
@kisak-valve thanks, will try to see what the best way to approach it upstream is and then will get back to this thread

So there is a bug in x11/xorg with buffered window managers that manifests itself as visual artifacting. The reality is that the bug comes from X protocol spec having gray areas so technically the responsibility is spread. The origin of the bug is in wine, and the thing is I could push a patch to wine tree but the thing is the fix is not obvious and it's better that it doesn't stay in the hot path. With that said, say that a fix is pushed to wine and is gated by a registry key. Then say what is the best way then to propagate the reg toggles to games affected? And what people (if any) could help me with figuring out where or whom should/cloud I speak to besides wine devs to have fix applied e2e?
Games affected: Fields Of Mistria @ 1440p (4x scaling), app id: 2142790
WM setups: freedesktop xorg/gnome (nvidia) , xlibre/xfce (intel mesa/nvidia)
Thanks
