@fredrixk the game's working fine on my end with a 4060m, the same driver version, and proton experimental + locally built vkd3d-proton for descriptor heaps changes as I don't think those would be on upstream proton otherwise. It also worked with the normal build of proton, without descriptor heaps. Have you tried wiping the prefix and seeing if the game starts without extra launch parameters?

@simifor Launching without those parameters gives me the same result - 'Fatal error' with a black screen'

I think this may have to do with the nvidia 50 series on linux. The devs have now given a patch note stating that the only fix for it now is to run it using -dx11. https://farfarwest.notion.site/help-me

@rochy-roch It does crash sometimes even with the cachyos-proton and those launch options. It usually crashes when I try to pick up a gun fragment during the missions. Im assuming you are using the 50 series nvidia cards, usually these cards are the ones that have a problem with UE5.

Sorry, yes you are right.
I dual boot and had only played full games in Windows. I'd installed it on CachyOS & messed about getting it to boot with DX12, see that it loaded ok to the home/Saloon area & just assumed that all was good. I just tried & i can't even load into a mission without it crashing and yes I'm using a 5080.
