Reproduction

Proton 7 will reliably reach the main menu but crash when starting a new game and selecting who to help. It will also crash before that if the 'enter' key is pressed after typing your name at first start instead of clicking ok.

@BetaNix Thank you for the report! Unfortunately this crashing is a game bug, and happens on Windows as well. I just checked myself and the errors are the same at the same exact point when using the latest Proton versions.

That is correct although I can work around it by enabling windows XP compatibility mode.
Interestingly I have been able to get it running and playable on two older computers using older versions of Proton (7,8) although that was only after I tried switching thru Proton versions old (3,4) and new (11,10,exp.). Not sure what exactly I did that caused it to run. I can provide logs, etc if desired.

I double checked one of the older systems and it was actually ge-Proton 10-32 not regular Proton 7. I did have it working with regular Proton on the other old system though.
