Symptoms

The game doesn't appear, and the STOP button changes to the PLAY button a few seconds after I press the PLAY button in Steam.

Reproduction

  1. Press the PLAY button in Steam.
  2. Watch the STOP button change to PLAY before the game can appear.

If a Proton log isn't being generated when you expected it, that implies that you're using that version of the game and Proton isn't involved at all.
