Hello,

I am experiencing a consistent game crash with Error Code: FHC00 (Video Card Crash) while playing Forza Horizon 6 on Linux.

The game successfully launches using Proton Hotfix. The built-in Benchmark Mode runs perfectly fine from start to finish without any crashes. However, in the actual game, the crash happens consistently during high-speed driving (around 120+ MPH) when streaming environments or driving past dense areas (like cherry blossom fields).

Right before the crash, the game freezes for about 1 second, attempts to recover and moves forward for a split second, then completely freezes and throws the FHC00 error. Steam then becomes unresponsive (zombie process) and requires a manual 'pkill' in the terminal to close.

I have already tried using launch options like PROTON_FORCE_VULKAN_HEAP_SIZE, VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hbm, and PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1, but the high-speed streaming crash persists.

System Specifications:

  • OS: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS (with COSMIC Desktop Environment / Wayland)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (8GB VRAM)
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • NVIDIA Driver Version: 580.159.03
  • Compatibility Tool: Proton Hotfix

Please let me know if you need any proton logs or additional details. Thank you!

Hello @Kpun11th, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, so I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/9789#issuecomment-4546886864.
