Symptoms

The game worked perfectly on May 27th using Proton Experimental. However, starting May 28th, the game crashes immediately after the initial loading screen.

If I use the launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%, the game manages to launch and bypasses the crash, but the performance drops severely, making the game run extremely slow and unplayable.

Reproduction

1. Launch Age of Mythology: Extended Edition via Steam with Proton Experimental.
2. Wait for the initial loading screen to appear.
3. Observe the crash to desktop right after the loading screen finishes.
4. (Alternative) Add PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% to launch options, start the game, and observe extreme performance degradation.
