Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Scam Line
  • Steam AppID of the game: 2794590

System Information

I confirm:

  • [x] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [x] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

steam-2794590.log

  • Game loads fine, can interact with starting menus/options without issue
  • Joining a lobby or hosting a lobby takes about a minute to load with several 'steam has stopped' popups, but does load
  • Once in the lobby, game freezes entirely, looping ~1 second of audio and unable to interact. Several 'steam has stopped' popups per minute. Waiting occasionally carries out an input or gives a few seconds of interactability, followed by another freeze.
  • Log is for Proton 10.0-4 but have tried this with Experimental, Hotfix, and 9.0-4 with same results.
  • Other games work without issue on this computer.

Reproduction

  • Open game
  • Click "host lobby"
  • Wait for lobby to load, try to move or interact
  • (Haven't been able to reproduce this on desktop, so not an issue with the internet connection)

Are you sure this is a proton related error and not caused by using a snap version of steam?

Because Snap is sandboxed it might be denying access to your audio hardware and therefore crashing when it sets up the audio for the lobby.

Running the below commands might fix the issue by giving permission to access your audio hardware.
snap connect steam:audio-playback
snap connect steam:audio-record
snap connect steam:network-control
