Hello @Tiagoquix, similar to mods, issues with game launchers and adjacent feedback should be discussed with the game they're being used with. I've gone ahead and transferred this issue report to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3994#issuecomment-4855351923.
This was tested with Battlefield 4, but I believe it happens regardless of the game:
I cannot open EADesktop.exe directly (using protontricks/winetricks). It gives me an error about background services crashing. It functions normally when opened together with the game via the Play button on Steam.
My reason to want to open it as standalone is because I cannot disable the EA in-game overlay when the game is open.
