Steps for reproducing this issue:
Every time I launch Steam VR my entire screen freezes. I can move my mouse but cannot click anything and my keyboard doesn't work either. It seems to freeze as soon as the compositor launches. Right when it freezes I see the vr compositor in my activities bar but I never actually see the compositor when it freezes, just my background on my desktop.
I have tried both beta and non beta versions, I tried running from terminal, I reinstalled both steam and steamvr. Any ideas on a workaround?

Update
Got SteamVR running by reverting back to my original BIOS settings on my gpu. I am now getting a 306 error. Details on this issue can be found here https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/147
