Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I'm trying to get my HTC Vive working with SteamVR on Ubuntu 19.04 with the latest updates as of 10/7/2019, but every time I try to enable Direct Mode, nothing changes. The HTC Vive does not show up in the list of monitors, either in Ubuntu's settings or the Nvidia settings app.

Here is a video of what happens when I open SteamVR, and try to enable Direct Mode from the popup message above the status window. I'm not sure why minor graphical artifacts appear in the recording, they did not show up while performing the steps.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Opt into Steam and SteamVR betas
  2. Install SteamVR
  3. VR output appears on monitor
  4. Enabling direct mode does nothing
  5. VR Status window is gone after SteamVR restarts while trying to enable direct mode, have to kill vrmonitor, as closing VR output window will not end it.

...I forgot to plug the HDMI cable back in. This can obviously be closed.

Nothing extracted yet.
