Are these libraries available in the Ubuntu repos? I believe your error can be resolved by installing them.
I can try, but steam doesn’t (as a rule) require you to install anything else - games vendor their own libraries as a rule.
Possibly a general game support issue then.

I'm not an expert, but I think maybe this bug report would be better placed over at the steam-runtime github: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-runtime/issues.
Aha - turns out I was running an out-of-support distro.
@DanielHeath Is the game working in VR for you now? I've been wanting to pick it up.

Describe the bug
Cannot launch "Keep talking and nobody explodes" in VR.
When attempting to do so from the VR desktop, a desktop popup appears with the following message:
To Reproduce
Start "Keep talking and nobody explodes" from the SteamVR desktop using the controller (HTC vive headset/controller)
Expected behavior
The game should start.
