I don't know if the following errors have anything to do with the one above.

STEAMVR DOES NOT WORK ON XFS
The issue was solved by migrating my /home from xfs to ext4
I'm seeing the same thing on Arch. My home directory is on an XFS partition, which supports the hypothesis that it's an XFS compatibility issue of some sort, but reformatting my home drive isn't a viable solution. I'd appreciate a different fix.
I am also seeing this as well with XFS.
The errors reported by OP are old and have nothing to do with XFS. That's not saying that SteamVR works fine on XFS, there may be a problem as well but if that's the case please open a clean report and provide the information requested in the issue template so we can investigate. Closing this.

Describe the bug
"Error Starting SteamVR" Message appears when starting SteamVR "SteamVR failed to initialized for unknown reasons. (Error: Installation Not Found (100))" Despite this the headset works and SteamVR Home launches.
