Under any recent version of steamVR available in that application's properties >betas tab, SteamVR will freeze the entire computer upon starting when the Vive Pro Eye headset is connected and powered. I can't even switch between ttys or toggle the capslock light on the keyboard.
I spent at least 3 days trying everything from different desktop environments to switching distributions. Depending on what configuration or setting I'd applied in troubleshooting the problem, the headset display shows a varying forms of static, garbled images and seems to restart itself after several seconds. The problem is identical under Fedora 32 and Ubuntu. The headset works flawlessly under windows.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Connect linkbox and Vive Pro Eye headset.
  2. Power on linkbox.
  3. Start steamVR

Expected behavior
SteamVR starts normally.
