Valve and NVIDIA really need to sit down and fix this little problem, it's one of a few that have been known about for almost a year. Even with at least 387.34, the VIVE randomly gets confused about which mode it should be in.

You have to run at least 387.34 for proper vulkan support anyway, and yes, it is a pain in the arse to update (kernel ABI also broke). Added benefit is there have been several fixes for VIve related things between 381.22 and 387.34. Some NVIDIA cards won't even detect the VIVE or lose sense of it after some time. Kinda like your case.

~~I believe it was introduced well after this was opened but Valve also as part of an update, changed the sleep time to something ridiculous like 5 seconds. ~~ Valve reverted this again as of January 17th 2018 update.

The hardware is glorious when it works though.

Nothing extracted yet.
