Closing because Audio is now working - steam VR needed to be turned on before I could get audio. (checked this guide)
It came out as an HDMI output within pipewire, so pipewire support is confirmed working
As it turns out, my valve index was plugged into the main slot of the graphics card. This caused the system to permanently think there was no sound from the slot because it wasn't enabled when linux booted.
When it was in a secondary slot, steam VR was able to turn audio on for the device and it was working as intended. It even switched over to the device itself automatically
Nothing extracted yet.
Describe the bug
I thought I would open this up again considering the oldest issues regarding this are over a couple years old
Right now per this issue, I'm not able to get audio output working on the valve index. The microphone fully functions, but the speakers do not show up as a selectable configuration
On pavucontrol-qt the two options I have are Pro Audio and Mono Input. (Currently using pipewire), as of a couple of years ago it sounds like people were able to use pipewire previously with the valve index (with the lack of automatically switching over)
I've yet to test pulseAudio with the index, would be fine with testing it, and am interested in doing that next.
Things I've tried:
I've also tried running with X, but that didn't really do anything, and I figured it wouldn't.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Expected behavior
Valve index provides an audio output device on pipewire to manually switch to
