FIXED: i switched to kubuntu but i think this will help others

  1. if your laptop has both IGUI and dedicated GPU set IF YOU CAN in your bios to dedicated GPU only on lenovo it should be in your bios setup screen, google if you can on your laptop/desktop bios.
  2. DON'T USE CINNAMON as it has not got the DRM leasing needed for steamvr to work
  3. DON'T USE FLATPAK STEAM IT WONT SETUP CORRECTLY FOR STEAMVR. USE STEAM FROM THE WEBSITE
    https://store.steampowered.com/about/
  4. click yes when it needs to configure with sudo.
  5. go through the normal setup and it should work if not then it could be your HDMI or some weird quirk with your distro.

7.it should work afterwards.

Nothing extracted yet.
