The helper applications are functional again, as of SteamVR Beta 2.13.3. This release had a side issue where SteamVR was prompting me to Enable Fullscreen, but after some reading online I surmised this was due to my version of Mesa being out of date (on an AMD GPU). I updated mesa-va-drivers-freeworld to mesa-va-drivers-freeworld-0:25.1.7-1.fc42.x86_64 and restarted SteamVR, then the fullscreen error stopped appearing.
With the helper applications, I've been able to successfully reset my USB devices within SteamVR. After doing that, error 496 and the Shared IPC Compositor Connect Failure went away and I've been able to start using my headset.
Will keep this in mind if it occurs for future releases. Closing this issue out.

Describe the bug
I am unable to set up my Valve Index in Steam VR on Fedora 42 with Steam from RPM Fusion.
To Reproduce
When I install SteamVR from scratch, I am seeing SteamVR pick up my valve index, but it fails to connect with the following error:
It does attempt to launch Room Setup, but that closes on open with the error message:
When I try to Reset my SteamVR USB devices, it asks me to select an application; when I generate the valve-URI-vrmonitor.desktop and valve-URI.steamvr.desktop apps manually, it gives the following error:
Expected behavior
I am able to take the same Valve Index headset and run it in Windows without an error.
