Describe the bug
When using Steam Link to stream SteamVR from a Linux host, clicking the "Desktop" button on the SteamVR overlay does not display the desktop view. The overlay responds to the click, but the desktop window either fails to appear entirely or shows a black/empty screen instead of the actual desktop content.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Set up a Linux host running SteamVR with Steam Link streaming enabled
  2. Connect to the host from a Steam Link client device (in this case Quest 3S)
  3. Launch SteamVR
  4. Open the SteamVR overlay
  5. Click on the "Desktop" button in the overlay
  6. Observe that the desktop view fails to render or shows a black screen

Expected behavior
Clicking the "Desktop" button on the SteamVR overlay should open a functional desktop view window within VR, allowing the user to see and interact with their Linux desktop environment while in VR.
