Describe the bug
I am running on a stable system, where 570 and up brakes EVERYY linux build to date I have tried over kernal 6.10 so I am stuck on 6.8 as 6.9 isn't hosted it seems and 565 what works fine for VR or did in the past but steamVR is forcing 575, since everyone knows drivers in 570+ are buggy as hell on the newer kernals what it needs as well and not giving me a way to bypass this check is sick steam, what the hell is going on where why are you locking me out I should be able to use any drive what works for ME, Nvida drivers fuck up start up, login, or game play full stop from 570 I seen 1000's of posts about it so why are you locking to the 57x versions or up and don't say use 580x there worse.

Yes I should of gone AMD but you know life comes first I don't have money to by a new card the 3060 12gb will have to do but give me a way to bypass this driver check

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open steamVR, Open Steam Link on Quest 3 and connect
  2. Steam says nope, your not using 575 what is a problematic driver so go away
  • Steam client version (build number or date):
  • SteamVR version: SteanVR Beta
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Ubuntu and PopOS(still Ubuntu based)

Additional context
Sorry but I haven't seen anywhere where 570 drivers are stable or stay stable and making us use this makes this worse then windows or nvida them selves, you taken the right of working systems out of our hands with hard coding a driver check what isn't needed as I had it working find on 565 drivers in the past maybe a subpar connection as the hacks we had to do to get it to work back then but it worked so let us bypass this checkl

Hello @GamingThing, the encoding path used with Steam Link VR is known to be unconditionally non-functional before that driver version. SteamVR isn't requiring that driver version, Steam Link is.

Regressions in a video driver should be reported to and resolved by the video driver vendor.
