i guess the title says it all, if i am gaming and i open the steam overlay to write to someone, i have to type every letter twice or it won't appear, this is very very tedious

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. open steam
2. open a game
3. open the steam overlay
4. write to someone
5. see you need to type every letter twice

for example i need to type

hheelloo,, hhooww aarree yyoouu??

for

hello, how are you?

to appear, really really tedious, and makes me quit a game everytime someone writes me...
