The screenshot is created; this looks like it's happening when the notification is shown. The game continues to run, though without the overlay. Null pointer dereference?

(Found while playing Starfield; this is not its own screenshot function, which is completely separate from Steam. I haven't tested with other games yet but I expect the same.)

I'm also on Debian and have been unable to open Steam Overlay in Civ VI and CS:GO. (no info on cs2 due to unrelated launch issue)

steamoverlayui seemed to be related , and i noticed some errors relating 32vs64bit compatibility.

I will reply with logs if found

Hello I'm using Bazzite 42 and having a similar issue like this.
When I launch any game from steam the overlay just never works (tried CS2, Valheim, Hollow Knight)
The game runs fine but without the overlay.

I see these errors with the journalctl -xek command.

The only way I got the overlay to work was to manually launch steam from the terminal, then the overlay works just fine.
