Where is this message viewable in Steam?
Can't seem to find this anywhere. Please reactivate this issue if you can give us more specific information. A screenshot would help.
I have the same problem
I'm on Ubuntu 12.10 64bit
If I can do anything to help please shout
actually - I have the same Steam version on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit and cannot install the Flash at all
but there is a correct message about an incorect installation path :dancers:
Does Flash work in your web browser? If you reproduce this again, would you mind getting the output from ps and put it on gist.github.com and link here. Interested if flash has been launched.
Sorry for the slow response
Yes flash works in both Firefox and Chromium
Interestingly I seem to be able to reproduce this problem with some links and not others e.g.:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=113014771 fails with #text_need_flash_inclient
http://store.steampowered.com/app/200710 Tells me I need to have a specific Flash Player installed
The start of the second message described is "You need to have a specific Flash Player version installed to view video content in Steam...". The instructions provided tell me to upgrade but I'm already on version 11.2.202.275 and on Adobe's site the latest is 11.2
I'm now on steam version 1364601080
What is it you're looking for in the output of ps?
I have found a note that x64 bit users must manually install x86 Flash - ME NOT LIKE IT!
I'm getting the same. I've tried two or three apparently common fixes for this, all of which revolve around downloading the 32-bit flash from Adobe and copying libflashplayer.so to various different directories and restarting steam. These used to work, when Steam was beta, but no longer seem to do the job.
Update : Some videos work! I noticed the "Dungeon Defenders" trailer works, but the Greenlight contender "Gunship : Resistance" displayed the #text_need_flash_inclient message. So it would seem to be only embedded Youtube videos that don't work and display this message, while official "Steam" videos are playing fine.
I got this problem to.
#text_need_flash_inclient
Nothing extracted yet.
no flash video, placeholder text instead: #text_need_flash_inclient
