I have the exact same issue on a clean install. I'm not certain but here it started when enabling "Enable Steam Play for all other Titles".
Same story on Fedora 39, Gnome Wayland, Radeon RX with recent/latest Mesa drivers. It won't take you out of the game but Steam will restart and re-open all of its windows and taking focus away from the game. And opening the in-game overlay will be SLOW as hell too.
I hope this wasn't obvious, but disabling GPU accelerated rendering for web views resolves the constant crashing and steam becomes way more responsive, including in the game overlay.
Have a similar Problem which let my whole Ubuntu Mate crash...
Tried disabling GPU accelerating and will look if this fixes it...

Still having the issue with
libcef.so.
I am as well unfortunately. Cannot launch steam. Mine is 6.7.7 kernel, Gnome, Manjaro, 3080 mobile.
Any updates on this? In my case steamwebhelper keeps crashing randomly and dumping core.
