When trying to add a game from outside of steam new window pops and it cant be cancelled until it finishes the search... and it usually takes a lot on my system.

Confirming that ‘cancel’ does not cancel the operation, whereas the window close button does work as intended.

I assume you mean you're clicking Games -> Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library... and then while the list is populating press the cancel button in that dialog?

If this is so, I can't reproduce this. Pressing cancel works fine for me.

@davidw-valve In order to reproduce it close steam and then open it again,then go to Games -> Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library
It only happens the first time you do it.

It appears to occur in the lulls between adding entries, and when I mean lulls, higher IO load; from having a look at the strace, when its spidering ~/.local/share/applications/ and finding lots of desktop files (mostly entries added by Wine and which aren’t absorbed into the list)
