Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Since updating to the latest steam version in late november /early december shader cache doesn't ever download or build anymore. previously I had over 10GBs of cache for Apex alone. now steam reports I barely 4GB alltogether.
What Ive tried:

  • turning shader precaching in settings off and on again
  • turning shader precaching in settings off, exiting steam, manually removing shadercache and compatdata folders in steamapps directory, turning shader precaching in settings on again
  • reinstalling games

Steps for reproducing this issue:

Update to latest steam client release (I guess?) There are others - notably on steamdeck/AMD who also have the same issue (https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/18khlc1/shader_cache_doesnt_download_anymore/ ) and latest update to the steam client seems to be the reason

closing as it seems to have been fixed in the latest steam client update
