I noticed establishing an ethernet connection takes 3-4 seconds. However this happened every time and chat windows in the past loaded just fine. Also the steam client handles this fine as well, showing as logged out and logged in shortly after connection is established.

The issue is fixed by reopening the group chat or restarting steam.
