If i starts steam normaly i have not sound in games

As far as I know, this is a known issue for SUSE and Arch.

I'm using openSUSE 12.2 64-bit with Pulseaudio. I didn't knew there should be some sound in Steam itself. When should I hear what? I tried both configurations from here:

SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulseaudio steam
SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa steam

And I also tried
steam (Without anything. On my system SDL_AUDIODRIVER defaults to "pulse".)
SDL_AUDIODRIVER="" steam
unset SDL_AUDIODRIVER; steam

At no time there was any sound in Steam. But as I said: I don't know when there should be sound at all (in Steam, not in the games).

@kolAflash inside settings, you can enable sounds for friends online activity and for messages. Screenshots (F12) should also make a sound while ingame.

I am having the same problem in Archlinux. The sound was working at some point. I updated the system recently (and steam updated itself some time ago as well). I can't get sound in games only. Anyone else still seeing the problems?
