Hey @codebori - is this with the latest beta (..8962)? So you confirm you still need to force -system-composer? In relation to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/10538#issuecomment-1970185826

The logs are from stable, but beta acts the same.
Can confirm, same here on NixOS with Plasma 5. Stable as well as beta behaves that way. I can still get into settings etc, but the main interface is just black. Using '-system-composer' works fine, though. Toggling Plasma's compositor (Ctrl-Shift-F12, iirc) didn't change the behaviour.
The issue is not present on XFCE. (I had to login to a different environment after the Plasma update).
When starting Steam (either through the start menu, command-line or link) on X it opens with a blank, but functioning UI (hovering over it actually reveals tool tips and clicking works).
(It seems to work fine on Wayland, but I cannot use Wayland for other unrelated reasons.)

Steam works fine when I run it with
-system-composer.
