Having a place in Steam Workshop would allow for comments for example which could indicate the quality of the config better than upvotes or playtime. It could also allow for giving ideas for config improvements and brainstorming on those ideas.

EDIT: Being able to link to a workshop page would be much more convenient and user friendly than sharing a steam:// protocol link
