Hello @Tiagoquix, this request is already being tracked at #9941. Closing as a duplicate.
@kisak-valve I believe this issue is different from the one you mentioned.
In #9941, the user is asking for an option to run all games by default using their Windows builds, even if such games have a build for Linux.
My suggestion is to add a new option in the following menu (which only affects specific games, and not all games):
The option would always be the first one and would be called "(Follow my global Steam Play setting)". It will always follow what the user has set in their global settings (in my case, it's Proton GE):
This would mean that, when updating the custom version of Proton (or another type of compatibility layer), games with Linux builds forced to use their Windows version via game properties would automatically follow the new Steam's global version, without the user having to go to their library and set the new custom Proton version also for that specific game via game properties.
It would be similar to the "Allow downloads during gameplay" option, which states that it is overrideable on a per-game basis:
I'm not sure if #9941 would be the better place for me to comment on, but...
Having a global option to force all games to use the Windows version can be useful for dual booting when the two systems use the same Steam library.
When booting into Linux, Steam will update all games which have a Linux version.
The reverse happens when booting into Windows: Steam updates the Linux games to their Windows version.

You are right, yesterday I was too tired to comprehend your request.
Your request is a "variable" that can be set in one place and used at multiple other places.

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
Hello there.
I don't know if this is the right place to request a new feature, but here is my request:
I would like to have a new option called "(Follow my global Steam Play setting)" when using the option "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool".
My justification for this is that there are games that have native ports for Linux, but their Windows versions run better than the native Linux version.
An example I can give is the game Hitman (2016), which has a native Linux build, but its version via Proton runs better on Linux (according to user reports, the native version causes crashes, while via Proton it runs smoothly).
The usefulness of this would be to be able to update custom versions of Proton (in my case, Proton GE) and not have to keep changing it for each forced game specifically with each update.
Thanks in advance.
