Hello @Goddard, more generally, this request is already being tracked at #46. We'll need to see a Steam dev wire up general notification integration before more niche requests should be considered.

Currently it appears when music or a video is playing it doesn't notify KDE Plasma that anything is playing. Plasma has a system tray tool that lets you control your media it also connects to your keyboards media keys if you have them. This makes it easy to pause and play the audio source.

Just to provide a little more clarity. If you were using Firefox for example they have an extension that was made by the KDE team https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/plasma-integration/
That extension integrates firefox into Plasma to allow the control of the audio/video source. Not exactly sure how Steam does it, but maybe seeing this would help understand what to use? I don't know, but just thought it might help.
