Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

a few hours after launching steam, the "web browser" portion of the ui (things like store, library community, etc), all start running at under 1fps, making it effectively unusable. i've tried closing the friends tab - it changes nothing.

the only way to fix this is to completely relaunch steam (killall -9 steam), as closing the window and relaunching it causes the steam window to flash and immediately dissapear.

the menu parts that are not the web browser (steam at the very top, along with like the options menu if i open it), run fine, but its basically impossible to launch/select a game, as the client is nearly frozen

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. launch steam
  2. wait a few hours
  3. try to use steam
