Similar to above. Launch Steam. Wait. See error message as in image. I don't always get the 'webhelper is not responding' dialogue, though.
Steps for reproducing this issue:

Tried to run without GPU Accelerate, nothing changed -
Tried restarting steam, which usually works. -
Tried restarting webhelper, I think it worked once, when it could read my input.
Bump. I am also having this issue. Been having it for a couple of weeks, now.
I usually retry and wait for a Steam client update to arrive, but it's happened quite a few times over the past week or so, now and no updates have fixed it so here I am.
I found the log files, tail'd them and re-launched... It displays fine, BUT the error STILL actually happens.

Looks like a variable type error lol Is someone forgetting to check their return values before using them?
The 'Refresh' link in the error window doesn't work, either.
[The inconsistent behaviour from launch to launch makes it seem flaky, now. Like some kind of intermittent fault (one of those pests.) Also... Javascript?]
Oh, I'm not sure if it's connected, but...
Could just be an internally resolved DNS name. Some quite creative technical choices were made.
It appears the markdown parser is broken. Have to log a bug with the guys at Github about that...

So, after launching steam, there appeared dialog with "Webhelper not responding". When sometimes I can reach steam there is error
cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'GetPlayer')inside steam.Steps for reproducing this issue:
