switching to xorg didn't fix the issue ethier.
and trying a new user didn't ethier.
I'm tempted to do a os reinstall at this point I've been trying various stuff not knowing what thr problem is to try to fix it. but what annoys me is I literally did a os reinstall a week ago.
I found the fix apparently steam needs access to connect 127.0.0.1 (local ip) for apps to launch so I allowed that ip in portmaster and that fixed it? what, I mean I guess that makes some sense

What I've tried
restarting my pc
reinstalling steam
reseting steam's data
trying the flatpak didn't work just did the exact same thing as the system package
looking at the arch linux wiki and seeing if the issue is there and trying related stuff
