I believe this is a Steam client host side issue.

Tested with Steam Link Android and iPad OS with multiple hosts and all behave the same:

  1. Steam Deck OLED running Steam OS on Stable branch
  2. Steam Deck OLED running Steam OS on Preview branch
  3. Desktop with AMD 6950XT running Bazzite OS

To reproduce:

  1. Stream Steam to Android Steam Link app, now we have both the host (Deck) and client (Android) showing the same content
  2. Start a non-Steam game (Ryujinx installed from GitHub release)
  3. Once it's started, press the Steam button to bring up the overlay

Actual behavior:
Overlay is only visible on the host (Deck), the client (Android) shows nothing but the game. The host fails to capture the content of the overlay to stream, leaving only the app visible on the client.

Expected behavior:
Overlay should be visible on the client (Android)

Note:
Direct non-Steam game streaming from one Steam client to another (where you press the Stream button in the Steam client) is also broken. I think it has the same root cause.

Hello @AkazaRenn, issues with the Steam Link for Android client are out of scope for this issue tracker. Feel free to post this feedback on the community forums at https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/4/.

@kisak-valve I have so verified on the iPad OS client. I believe this is a Steam host side bug not Steam Link client. Can you please reopen the issue?

Feedback on the Steam Link for iOS app would also be better posted on the community forums.

Setting that aside, Is Firefox running in Flatpak in each case you tested? I suspect you're seeing https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/8952 / https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/1756.

@kisak-valve Firefox is a flatpak, but I've also tested non-Flatpak apps (Ryujinx) and observed the same behavior. Thus, I strongly believe that this is NOT a Steam Link app issue, neither Android nor iOS. THIS IS A STEAM HOST ISSUE.

@kisak-valve thank you for understanding and reopening the issue!

Thanks for clarifying, let's use this issue report to focus on Ryujinx as #8952 would cover Firefox's case.
