Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Downloading any game results in disk read error upon fully download at the end of validation. I can transfer all my dual booted games from windows to linux just fine and validation and future updates of games will work just fine. It is just anything newly downloaded for some reason
NOTE: flatpak is doing just fine so its not BTRFS or my ssd being corrupted and also small games seems to download fine

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Choose your new game
  2. Select compatibility to proton experimental
  3. Download your game
  4. Watch at it almost finishes
  5. hype
  6. Validation almost done
  7. disk read error
  8. cry

Have you ruled out hardware? Try memtest86 on your RAM and see if you see any errors. Remember to disable XMP for possible false-positives. I can't tell exactly how you ruled out BTRFS corruption by way of steam's installation method.. could you elaborate?

See my issue for some more data.

Already did memtest86+ with and without xmp
No errors.
About ruling out btrfs corruption... Problem with steam happens only if steam is installed over package manager, not when flatpak
