Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Tried to use steam remote play together between 2 steam decks, one 512 OLED and one 512 LCD. Tried several games like Aeolis Tournament, A Hat in Time and Kingdoms: Two Crows. In Every try the client would stall in the black loading screen impossible to dismiss. The B button did nothing and going to the steam menu and choosing the "Stop Steam" option only grayed out the option and nothing more. A reboot was needed in that case or the black loading screen would persist.Tested both directions.

Also tried with an android phone as a client with the following results:

  • OLED Deck seemed to work with both video and audio present as well as input. Didn't test that much but it didn't take long to be only a white blank screen but with audio and input apparently working
  • LCD Deck crashed/reboot (maybe only the steam client) as soon as the connection was established between the android phone and the deck

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Try to use steam remote play together between two steam decks

Does this mean that the issue is confirmed and being looked at? Or is it still awaiting confirmation?

Seeing the same thing stochastically between two Steam Decks running 3.6.20 - one OLED, one LCD. A reboot almost always fixes it and then allows streaming to work again (until streaming itself crashes, but that's another issue).

I was able to reproduce the issue with Steam crashing in the background during Remote Play Together on two Decks with SteamOS 3.6.17, but haven't been able to reproduce on 3.6.24 or newer.

@durtroSC @pridkett Would either of you be able to give this a re-test on SteamOS 3.7.15 or newer to confirm if you are still affected?

At the moment it is not easy for me to test this since I only have one steam deck with me. What I can say is that for me the general steam remote streaming experience on linux hasn't been that great. The last one I tried with steam deck oled was remote play from a kubuntu machine with nvidia. It did work after tinkering with settings, I think with hardware encoding or decoding, but it had frequent video freezes where a static image was shown but both input and audio worked apparently without a problem.

Nothing extracted yet.
