Wanted to listen to music while playing Team Fortress 2 and had videos. Today I tried playing a video in Steam chat with Youtube giving an error.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Open Youtube in the Steam browser.
  2. Attempt to watch a video with low view counts.
  3. Youtube attempts to play the video and gives and error.

For me the following worked.

Steam -> Settings -> Account ->Account details -> Cookies & Browsing

Optional Cookies Accept All

Restart Steam (maybe not necessary)

Now YouTube should work in Steam (both Browser and Chat).

Yes there is a Youtube option on the same settings page.
But for me it worked only after Accept All

I also use a Fedora based disrto (Nobara). So maybe the problem is something specific to Fedora
