Can you send me the contents of your ~/.local/share/Steam/config/config.vdf file?

Also try renaming this file and starting Steam and see if it works.

@ancaemanuel: I think yours is a separate problem. Do you have a Crash ID reported anywhere? I don't see any on your output.

@Velaxtor: I'd still like to see your ~/.local/share/Steam/config/config.vdf file -- and also try renaming it and see if Steam starts.

For some reason it's not in ~/.local/share/Steam/config/, but in ~/Steam/config/

After renaming it, steam didn't crash, and started updating (probably because i tried reinstalling it a few times)

It now works again. (haven't tried closing and opening again though)

Okay, thank you. Looking into it. Please try restarting Steam (ideally a few times) and let me know if it still works.

It still works after restarting it a couple of times.

However, I still have a problem where I can't install (some) games. They won't show any download size before installation, however it still says the game is installed though it's finished instantly. When I then try to start the game (VVVVVV for example) it says "Failed to start game, missing executable"

@Velaxtor: Please report the issue with different games as a separate bug. Actually I happen to know that it's because VVVVVV is in Linux internal beta, and has already been reported.
