After Feb 1 update Steam segfault on launch on Kubuntu 13.04 x86_64. I know this version is not supported so I doesn't expect this to be fixed soon.

~$ steam
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically on ubuntu
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh: line 403: 3809 Segmentation fault (core dumped) $STEAM_DEBUGGER "$STEAMROOT/$PLATFORM/$STEAMEXE" "$@"
Installing bootstrap /home/user/.local/share/Steam/bootstrap.tar.xz
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1359600063_client)

STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically on ubuntu
/home/user/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh: line 403: 3926 Segmentation fault (core dumped) $STEAM_DEBUGGER "$STEAMROOT/$PLATFORM/$STEAMEXE" "$@"

But I can't find core dump in Steam folder.
I tried to reinstall Steam (dpkg-reconfigure steam:i386) but this doesn't help.

Does this https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/1075#issuecomment-12921568 workaround let steam run and download the next update?

That workaround isn't working, This bug is the same as #1075

Thank you, workaround working.

You are right, my report is duplicate.

@bcurtiswx it may have been, which is why I asked for confirmation. It does not hurt doing so.

@RussianNeuroMancer: Once you are all up to date, can you run without the workaround? We're trying to collect data to find out if the runtime is a good solution for people running 13.04
