Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I opened Steam just like normal, on the dash. It came up with the Updating Steam, Verifying Installation window. Then less than a second, it closed. Nothing else happened. I tried opening Steam in the terminal by typing "steam", excluding quotation marks, and it gave me this in the terminal.

I've tried re installing Steam, running "steam --reset", reinstalling Debian, trying it on a different distro, Pop!_OS. Still the same error.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Use either Debian or Pop!_OS to open Steam, on a fresh install

Side note: I tried re installing libgtk2.0, and it installed a lot more packages that libgtk2.0 preinstalled had. And then, the same thing happened, but a new error.

I tried this on Fedora version 41, and the same error as https://gist.github.com/GenPop-Games/857008482ccdf19484f926f1aba6d88b happened

Once again, tested on Ubuntu 18.04, works perfectly. No bugs whatsoever. Probably a dependency thing with libgtk2.0. I am not sure. I will leave this issue open, as the issue is not fixed yet.

This issue has still not been resolved. It works on Debian 11, with the latest version of steam, nvidia-driver 535(backport). I will personally continue to use it on Debian 11 until this issue has been solved. It will be left open

Nothing extracted yet.
