Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I have background recording turned on for every game on both PC and Deck, and I've been trying to save clips in Non-Steam games using the Steam+Up or Guide+Right shortcuts. It only seems to work in Steam games. To make a clip, I have to go to the recording and manually make the clip, which I don't think is more convenient than the shortcut.
When I press the Steam+Up shortcut on Deck, I expect Steam to save the last 30 seconds of my background recording as a clip, but nothing happens. The timeline marker and the manual recording shortcuts work fine, it's just the clip shortcut that doesn't work.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Open a Non-Steam game, any kind
  2. Press Steam+DPad Up (or PS+DPad Right, Xbox+DPad Right, or whatever shortcut you have configured for "Create Clip")
  3. Check Media, a clip hasn't been saved

Bumping this. Also adding the fact that manual recording and timeline marker shortcuts work just fine, but not the Create Clip shortcut. Custom shortcuts (e.g. R5 to Create Clip) also don't work.

I am having this exact issue in my ROG Ally with the latest version of Steam OS Beta (v3.7.9). Hopefully this can get fixed soon

Edit: Just wanted to add that when I used Steam in Windows with my ROG Ally, the Create Clip functionality worked as expected.

Still hasn’t been fixed. Very annoying especially with Decky Recorder not being an option anymore.

Can confirm this still hasn't been fixed.

Still an issue.

This same issue affects Windows. I was able to work around but setting a keyboard shortcut for making a clip and then setting the Steam button chord to be that keyboard shortcut. Not sure the option to set a keyboard shortcut exists on SteamOS.

Nothing extracted yet.
