It works for me.
I would also +1 removing sw rendering, at least on linux. If openGL is unsupported I am fairly certain that mesa falls back to sw.
There is no software mode on linux. I was talking about Windows.
Ah, okay, I hadn't actually checked I just sorta assumed there was because there was on windows. My bad.
Um... Why are you talking about Windows version? It's issue tracker for Steam for Linux :)
Because:
"Reporting Windows (and OSX) bugs for Half-Life and CS 1.6 is welcomed here, I am using this github to collect them all."
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/1053#issuecomment-12902599
Please reopen.
ok
It works fine for me too, anyone have any idea how to cause it to break like that?
It's weird, it does that on both of my computers, and I'm not doing anything special.
ah ha, software full screen has the problem, just not windowed. Will fix.
Still broken, can't even launch game in Software mode.

Don't remove the software renderer, there's nothing wrong with it, and I think it's much faster than Mesa software renderer and WARP (it was designed for 97-98 PCs). It should be fixed. The HD models have serious issues with it, however.
I agree with the post above. There is no need to remove the software mode for CS 1.6 in GNU/Linux
@kisak-valve
Software mode seem to be completely broken, see this screenshot:

It does that on both of my computers.
I would suggest removing software mode, as the performance in it is very bad anyway, no one uses it.
