The update notes for the Beta client today mention
and the cropping issue appears to be resolved.
However, it seems like restarting Steam with the "Restart Steam" menu option takes around 5 to 10 seconds longer than before. Most of that time is spent on the splash screen for "Shutting down Steam" or the blank Steam logo. This appears to be a new issue so I'll file a separate report after confirming.

When an intro movie for the Steam Deck client plays in GamepadUI/gamescope-session, the videos are only presented in 16:10 aspect ratio like the Steam Deck, even on 16:9 screens like the ROG Ally.
