Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
When Counter-Strike 2 is running (main menu) and I plug in my headset jack, the Steam UI shows undefined behavior. It opened in my case a dialog about "Gampad Driver Needs Update", which were not connected. When I press Update it instead started Shader Pre-Caching, which was disabled.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
Start a game i.e. Counter-Strike 2
Plugin headset jack in main menu
If nothing happens, return to 1 until undefined behavior appears.
After quitting the download of Shader Pre-Caching I saw this:
I use this to express a wish for the new year 2025 :slightly_smiling_face:
Can we please remove Shader Pre-Caching as feature from Steam. It is annoying to wait at random times for[1] downloads of shaders. This will create pressure to subsequently fix the core issue. Shader compilation takes too much time and resources on all platforms. A decade ago we had no waiting times for shaders and I want this back.
[1] Often they are also rather slow as in the picture above.
