Since upgrading to 24.04 from 22.04, Steam fails to launch from the applications menu, but launches fine from the command line.
When launched from desktop entry, the small splash screen appears with "loading data", then it disappears and the main Steam window never appears. Every 15 seconds or so, a steam icon appears for a fraction of a second in the launcher bar.
